A Mauritian stamp for an English prince
During my virtual strolls on social networks, I discovered that stamp that I really enjoyed. Published in 1982, for a value of 2.5 rupees, he bears the image of Prince Charles and Lady Di carrying in their arms the newborn Prince William. Thus, 11,000 kms of London, Mauritius did celebrate the birth of a likely future King of England!
It must be said that in 1982, Mauritius has just 14 years of independence from the British Empire and is part of the Commonwealth (since 1993, the Republic of Mauritius is also part of the Francophonie). This historic stamp is simply a sign of this attachment to England.
