Along the east coast
We no longer takes always time to take the coastal road from Beau Champ to Mahebourg. We prefer the highway, fast and efficient. Yet this stretch of road that follows the contours of Mauritius is full of charm! Then we should probably take the time, on vacation, to follow her.
At Poste de flacq, go towards Bella Mare and along the beautiful beaches, until you reach Trou d’Eau Douce. At Bel Air, go towards Beau Champ, towards the coast and the mouth of the Grand River South East. From there, just follow the road: we cross Deux frères (“Two brothers”), Quaztre Soeurs (“Four sisters”), Grand Sable … At Pointe Diable lays old cannons, traces the history of the island. Further, at Vieux Grand Port you can stop at the museum Frederik Hendrik, small historic site that gives some information about the past of the island.
Finally, finish the ride in Mahebourg, across the River La Chaux: bustling, busy, facing the sea and the Mountain Lion, one can find a multitude of places to have lunch and relax: the faratas at the bazaar to enjoy a snack before going dive at the Blue Bay beach, or a most sophisticated lunch at the Preskil.
