Going to Mauritius island in july ?

You have planned a holiday in Mauritius island in July and those who know the destination keep telling you that this is not the best time to discover the island. Suddenly you wonder how to spend the holidays. Do not panic! Here are our tips for a successful holiday in Mauritius during the mauritian “winter”: june, july or september.

Where to stay ?
The Mauritian winter is not harsh on the coast, with temperatures around 25 degrees during the day. However, the trade winds coming from the East or South East can blow quite strong. So plan to stay in the West: you’ll be sheltered from the wind on the side of Flic en Flac and Tamarin.

How is the sea?
During the mauritian winter, the lagoon water is “only” at 22/23 degrees : it seems cold, because in December or January the sea temperature in the Indian Ocean is around 30 degrees, but it remains largely adequate. If the weather is nice, so you can enjoy the seaside pleasures.

If, nevertheless, the sea seems a little cold , you can run into a water sport ! Coated with a good wetsuit , you can discover scuba diving or kite surfing, for example.

And aside from the sea?
If indeed the lagoon does not tempt you , you can also opt for land-based activities : hiking in the Black River Gorge , climbing the mountain ” Le Lion” , various hikings … The nature and the views are magnificent, and the colors are particularly vivid during the winter in Mauritius : breathtaking landscapes guaranteed.

What can we visit ?
Finally, you can also make some more cultural visits.For example, the Tea Road is a gastronomic and cultural tour interesting, you will discover the traditional Mauritius island.L’aventure du Sucre and the Labourdonnais castle, further north, are also worth visiting .
You can also follow our tips for a day at Port Louis, especially in the month of July, when horse races are held (usually on Saturdays) : an authentic slice of Mauritian life.

As you can see, there is nothing to worry about : your Mauritius vacation will be busy even if they take place in June, July or August, during the mauritian winter.
